The iconic Spanish Chair is Børge Mogensen’s masterful contribution to modern design, designed for Fredericia in 1958. Solid oak or walnut combined with the highest calibre saddle leather creates a strong presence in a chair that will only become more beautiful with age. Andalucia was the backdrop of inspiration for The Spanish Chair. While travelling through Spain, Mogensen observed an ornate chair with wide armrests, a traditional style involving Spain’s medieval furniture construction. Mogensen modernised the design and expanded upon his work with solid oak and saddle leather. The saddle leather used for The Spanish Collection is tanned and tailored in Sweden at the tannery, and saddle-makers Tärnsjö Garveri, one of the remaining 5% of tanning houses worldwide preserving this organic tanning method for the next generations. The leather used in this chair offers a comfortable seat, as a plastic-free alternative to polyurethane foams. Light oiled oak frame with natural saddle leather.Specifications
