Bjørn Wiinblad (1918-2006) was a Danish painter and designer celebrated for his imaginative pottery, theater settings, tapestries, and joyful designs, including candle holders and ceramics.Bjørn Wiinblad had a particular fondness for designing figurines with hats, and the archives contain multitudes of examples of how hats continue to appear in new, creative, and playful ways.
The latest member of the Wiinblad family is the delightful and sophisticated Lady With Hat Collection. Intricately hand-painted in brilliant colors, the series includes two vases and a candleholder, which also works perfectly as a vase for a single blossom. This candle holder is 6.3" tall and predominantly pink, with green, yellow, and blue detailing. What gives the candle holder its whimsical, fantastical look is the towering hat, which the lady balances with her hands. Indeed, the hat can be used for candles as well as a few small decorative flowers.
