It has an expressive shape that resembles a bird with a handsome tail.

'Ild' is Norwegian for fire and 'hane' translates to rooster.

This was the first object of the collection at Nedre Foss.

The idea of the product was prior to the idea of creating a brand.

The conclusions they made after developing Ildhane and the experience of how the object was accepted by very different people in very different context, got to define their values and how they communicate their identity.

Ildhane is cast in solid GGG50 iron and powder coated.

Anderssen & Voll is and Oslo-based design studio led by Torbjørn Anderssen and Espen Voll. Ildhane was the first item to be developed for the Nedre Foss collection. It has an expressive shape that resembles a bird with a handsome tail.

As with most projects from Anderseen & Voll, Ildhane was born as a hand sketch.  The sketch was translated into a computer model which then was printed in 3D. This process of printing, making subtle changes and then reprinting was looped until the designers felt absolutely confident about the shape.

The core of Nedre Foss is the notion of the Century Product + what they refer to as Sculptural Utility or bruksskulptur, as they say in Norwegian.  By this they mean objects that will serve you for at least 100 years, and where the sculptural qualities on one side and the utility aspect on the other, are equal parts of the function.

Nedre Foss is directed by the design studio Anderssen & Voll.  Founded by Torbjørn Anderssen and Espen Voll.  After graduating from the Bergen Academy of Art and Design and the Oslo National Academy of Art, Torbjørn and Espen went on to cofound the design group Norway says in 2000, eventually setting up the studio Anderssen & Voll in 2009.  Since then they have been collaborating with leading brand in Europe to realize their designs.
