Aluminum Group chairs were originally developed in 1958 as a special
project by Ray Eames for a private residence being designed by Eero
Saarinen and Alexander Girard. The seat-back suspension was a major
technical achievement and represented a departure from the concept of
the chair as a solid shell. Their classic lines and comfortable suspension
keep them in demand for all kinds of places, from contemporary homes
to elegant offices to hip startups.
The Eames Aluminum Lounge chair features a high-back with arms and a lightweight
aluminum frame with suspended upholstery. It has a 5-star base with .5"
glides for hard floors or carpet and a fixed seat height. It is
upholstered in traditional fabric or leather, ribbed at 1 7/8-inch intervals
for a clean, refined appearance.
The tilt swivel chair includes a headrest upholstered to
match the specified leather or fabric color.
The ottoman features a lightweight aluminum frame with suspended
upholstery. It has a 4-star base and .5" glides for hard floors or carpet.
