Charles and Ray Eames noted that U-shaped cross sections of plywood from
their early molding experiments were stable enough to stand alone. To make
their screen, they joined the sections with canvas hinges and a synthetic
adhesive developed during World War II. Today, a polypropylene mesh held
securely by a new process ensures a longer life without compromising the
integrity of the 1946 design.

The Eames Folding Screen is a "stand alone" home accessory which can be used
to create standing or seated privacy and divisions within an environment. It
features five-ply strength with the screen's lightweight maple inner plies
sandwiched between light ash, walnut, natural cherry, or ebony veneers to
resist warping and separation. There are six U-shaped sections with flexible
connections. Each section is 10 inches long and durable, woven
polypropylene mesh connects the six plywood sections so it's easy to
