Artist: Rosemary Hayes
Clay jewelry

Artist's Statement:
"After graduating with a degree in art I spent most of my career as an art teacher in the rural community of Chesaning MI. Clay was the medium I most enjoyed.

In retirement I am able to concentrate on pottery. I love the smell of moist clay, it makes me want to create, whether it’s a pinch pot, jewelry, something on the wheel or a sculpture. I have always been attracted to unusual jewelry, especially one-of-a-kind pieces done by creative artisans. I decided to make my own and have received many compliments. I enjoy creating and designing unique jewelry to offer my customers.

I became a member of the West Michigan Potters Guild where I acquired the confidence to sell my wares at the guild shows. My pieces have been accepted in juried exhibitions and in Michigan galleries.

My husband, Bill and I share a studio called Thornapple Artisans."
