CYLINDA LINE
Arne Jacobsen designed his renowed range of hollowware - Cylinda Line – for Stelton in 1967. Since the very beginning, the range has been undisputed icon of Scandinavian design, winning the 1967 ID design award. It was so advanced that new machines and welding techniques had to be developed to accomplish the remarkably smooth, cylindrical stainless steel surfaces, devoid of any tension lines.

Today, this legendary range is part of numerous permanent collections at design museums all over the world. The Cylinda Line is known for its understated beauty and utter functionalism. Its design is based on different variations of cylindrical forms and every piece gains its own charachteristics through slight alterations in design. Although, the Cylinda Line range is a collection, its pieces work very well separately or mixed with other tableware. Cylinda Line includes pieces for complete tea and coffee set and all the essentials for your home bar.

How Stelton Became a Legend
Stelton was founded in 1960 with the purpose of selling stainless steel hollowware like platters, salad bowls etc. A design policy was formulated in 1964 when the then administrative director Peter Holmblad established a cooperation with the leading Danish architect and designer Arne Jacobsen. The basic idea was to create a true line of tableware where correlation of design between the individual items would always ensure harmonious table settings. The result was the now famous Cylinda-Line which was launched in 1967 and immediately attracted considerable attention for its serene and functionalist design. The company rapidly grew due to the success of Cylinda-Line in Denmark and on export markets.

After Arne Jacobsen's death in 1971 a cooperation with the young designer Erik Magnussen, well-known for his work for Danish porcelain manufacturer Bing & Grøndahl, was established. His first creation for Stelton was the stainless steel vacuum jug with the unique rocker stopper, which was introduced in 1977 - the best-selling article so far in the history of the company.

Since then Erik Magnussen and Stelton have developed an extensive range of table top items in stainless steel and ABS plastics, i.e. salad bowls, teapots, serving trays, serving utensils and cutlery.

In 2004, a generation change took place - former owner and managing director Peter Holmblad changed into the board of directors and new majority shareholder Michael Ring incorporated a successful new stream of ideas and innovation into the company by employing a whole new management team and by setting a new vision for associates and designers alike.

Today, Stelton offers five different design lines: Classic, i:cons, Explore, 21st and Norstaal. These Stelton lines feature products from more than 20 top-designers and thereby, once again, represent Stelton as one of the most innovative and front-running companies of its kind.
