DESIGN QUEST FURNITURE DESIGN COMPETITION - Thursday, October 25, 2012
Phase One: Digital entries
Entries of original furniture designs in the form of drawings, scale models, prototypes, or photos of prototypes, may be
submitted anytime, to Design Quest, up to September 4, 2012. There is no limit on material, or type of furniture.
However, the furniture must function as furniture. Maximum 3 entries per designer. Designs must be new, they may not be
in production.
Phase Two: Physical entries
Entrants will be notified of their acceptance by September 14, 2012.
Furniture accepted for the exhibit must be delivered no later than Wednesday, October 17, 2012.
Opening reception will be on Thursday, October 25, 2012, 6 to 8 pm, at Design Quest, with live music and refreshments.
People's Choice judging will take place between 6:30 and 7:30 pm, during the opening reception.
Awards will be handed out immediately after.
- Grand Prize* - $1000.00
- Second prize - $500.00
- Third prize - $300.00
- People's choice prize - $200.00
*Only physical entries, finished pieces and prototypes are eligible for the Grand Prize.
The exhibit will be on display until Sunday, December 16, 2012. Designers are responsible for the delivery and removal of their
entries. If unpacking and packing assistance is needed contact us. Design Quest will cover property insurance on each entry while
it is at Design Quest.

FAQ's
If I enter who owns the designs?
Your design is yours, Design Quest is interested in promoting new design and designers, but we do not produce anything ourselves. If we feel
that a design is a good fit for a manufacturer we know, we may either direct you to a contact we have or, with your permision, make a
contact.
International entries - I live outside the United States, can I enter?
We welcome designs from all over the world.
Do I need to send the furniture to enter?
To qualify for the Grand Prize, a physical model, prototype, or finished piece is required. All other prizes are eligible from images or drawings. However, the judges give a lot of weight to physical entries since they show the strengths and weaknesses much better than renderings.
Do I need to be there to set up?
We can unpack and assemble furniture as long as it is either simple and clear or there are proper instructions.
How is return shipping and packing handled?
Packing and return shipping can be handled by us. There will be a charge for any packing that requires more than re-using the material the
product came in and taping it up. All shipments must be prepaid or they will ship freight collect.
Are lamps accepted?
No, we are not accepting lamps this year.
What types of images of my design would you like to see?
The judges like to see images that show the full piece and a context for how the piece will be used and interacted with. Images showing multiple angles, details, and unique elements help the judges get a feel for the piece.
